"Tea For One"
1899 Tea Gown
Dressed for the Tea Party that starts at noon.
My mother watched over every detail until I am done.
She leaves and lets me wait for my friends that will arrive soon.
Little does she know, that it will end up being "Tea For One"
This 1899 tea gown is fashioned after an authentic drawing
from the era. The back drape and
underskirt is made of grey silk chiffon.
The gown is made of pink crepe back satin and is edged with a ruffle of
white organza. The bodice features a
ruffle of white organza
outlining the yolk of the dress. The
yolk is covered in a beaded motif of grey seed beads and pink crystals.
The over skirt is trimmed in hand made beaded lace of grey seed beads and
pink crystals, which is assembled before it is attached to the piece.
The sleeves also feature a white organza ruffle and seed bead trim.
All the ruffling and beadwork was done by hand, and hand stitched on.
